Free 3D modeling for 3D printing, right in your browser
PrintCAD is a free, browser-based CAD tool for designing 3D-printable parts. Draw a sketch, push/pull it into a solid, round the edges and export 3MF or STL for your slicer — no install and no account.

What you can do
- Sketch lines, rectangles, circles, polygons, slots and text on the build plate or on any flat face.
- Regions: where shapes overlap or a line divides them, each region can be extruded on its own — draw a diagonal across a rectangle to extrude a triangle.
- Push/pull faces and sketches to add or cut material, with live preview.
- Fillet and chamfer edges, hollow (shell) a body, mirror, pattern (linear and circular), and boolean union/subtract/intersect.
- Revolve a sketch region around a line to make round parts such as vases, knobs and rings.
- Templates: box with lid, name tag / keychain, washer / spacer and mounting plate — just set the size.
- Print checks: overhang highlighting (faces steeper than 45°), cross-section view to inspect walls, and a measure tool.
- Split a body with a plane to print parts larger than your bed or to print each half flat.
- Screw holes in one click: M2–M8 clearance, self-tapping, countersunk, counterbore and nut traps.
- Arcs, splines, offsets and rounded corners in sketches; edit any line's length and angle by typing.
- Auto orient finds the flattest, support-free way to lay a part on the bed; the thin-wall check highlights walls thinner than your nozzle can print.
- Share links and an embeddable 3D viewer for your blog or shop; a history panel to jump back to any step; works offline once loaded and on touch screens.
- Exact values everywhere: type sizes while drawing, offsets while moving and angles while rotating.
- 3D printing helpers: printer build-plate presets, lay a face flat on the bed, drop to bed, out-of-bounds warnings, volume and weight estimate.
- Export 3MF, STL and STEP. Import STEP and STL.
- Available in English, 한국어, 日本語, 简体中文, Español, Deutsch, Français and Português.
Make your first part in 5 steps
- Pick your printer in Printer settings so the build plate matches your machine.
- Draw a sketch: press R for Rectangle, click on the bed, and type 40,20 then Enter.
- Make it 3D: drag the blue arrow, or type 10 and Enter for a 10 mm extrusion.
- Refine: click the top face and draw a circle on it, then push it down to make a hole; click edges and choose Fillet.
- Export → 3MF, open it in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer or OrcaSlicer, slice and print.
Design tips for 3D printing
- Keep walls at least 1.2 mm thick (3 perimeters with a 0.4 mm nozzle) for sturdy FDM prints.
- For parts that fit together, leave 0.2–0.3 mm clearance per side.
- Use Lay flat on this face to put the largest flat face on the bed and avoid supports.
- Prefer chamfers over fillets on edges touching the bed; they print without elephant-foot problems.
- Overhangs steeper than about 45° usually need supports — turn on Overhang to see them in red.
Frequently asked questions
Is PrintCAD free?
Yes. Every modeling tool and STL, 3MF and STEP export are free. PrintCAD is supported by optional donations.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No. PrintCAD runs in a modern web browser such as Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. There is no sign-up.
Which file formats can I export for 3D printing?
3MF and STL for slicers, and STEP for other CAD software. 3MF keeps units in millimeters and is recommended for Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer.
Does PrintCAD work with Bambu Lab, Prusa and Creality printers?
Yes. It exports standard 3MF/STL files that every slicer reads, and includes build-plate presets for Bambu Lab X1/P1/A1, A1 mini, Prusa MK4/MINI, Creality Ender-3/K1 and Elegoo Neptune 4.
Where are my models saved?
Your work is autosaved in your browser and you can save .pcad project files to your computer. Models are never uploaded to a server.
Can I enter exact dimensions?
Yes. While drawing, moving or rotating, just type numbers (for example 40,20 for a rectangle) and press Enter. You can also edit sizes and positions in the Info panel.
How do I add text or a name tag?
Choose the Text tool (K), click on the bed or a face, type your text, then drag the arrow up to emboss it or into a face to engrave it.
Can I edit an existing STL or STEP file?
You can import STEP and STL files. STEP files import as solid bodies that you can edit; STL meshes are best for small simple parts.
Is PrintCAD like Shapr3D or Tinkercad?
PrintCAD uses direct push/pull modeling on a precise CAD kernel (OpenCascade), focused on 3D printing, and runs free in the browser. It is an independent project, not affiliated with those products.
